Spring Umpiring 2022

Welcome to the Spring 2022 Alpine Little League season returning and NEW umpires!

We now have live umpire registration available for you to complete. We do ask that both returning and new umpires register on the site, so we know the size and nature of our pool of umpires. Past data entered into the legacy Alpine LL site is no longer available.

Through the new Alpine site, you will need to create a user account. Please follow this
link to be directed to the umpire registration form, create an account on the new site and choose "Register Myself" as a "Player." It will ask you some basic questions. There are some nuances. If you registering as an umpire with no other connection to the league, you can choose "Other" when it asks for "Relationship to Player*." If you are registering an umpire *who is also registered as a player* in Alpine, you can register them for the program under "Here are the available activities for your players" screen and choose "2022 Umpire."

Please reach out to us if you have any questions -- we know the sign up process for this year is new to everybody.
Umpires who are age 18+ will receive a separate email from us with a link to a state-mandated background screening service.

We are offering in-person training sessions in March 2022.

On March 8 and March 9 at Woodside High School, we will have in-person classroom sessions at Woodside High School. The training sessions will be portable H-1 near the baseball field (see map: Campus Map) from 6:00-8:00.

The sessions will include:

A basic rules and mechanics overview.

A program overview/orientation to discuss logistics and housekeeping (Alpine philosophy and policies, new scheduling platform, our updated pay structure, key new rules review, etc.). Due to the significant changes to the operation of the program, this training session will be required for all umpires. Those who are unable to attend will be given an alternate path to demonstrate their knowledge of the material.

Even before that and taking advantage of some already-scheduled scrimmages, we are holding a field clinic/visit with the umpire coordinators on Sunday, March 6 from 2:00 to around 4:30 at Ford Field in Portola Valley. This session is highly recommended for all new and newer umpires and those progressing to AAA/plate work and/or majors games, but open to all. New umpires should attend this session if at all possible.

Official games are set to begin on Saturday, March 12. Our new game scheduling platform (Arbiter) will be introduced the week of March 7. More details to come -- keeping watching this site as it will be consistently updated with new information.

Don't hesitate to reach out to the coordinators at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments and we will get back to you within 24-48 hours.

Thanks again for your continued interest in the Alpine Umpire Program. We look forward to working with you all for what we hope will be another successful season.
