Highlights from Coach Dave

In a monster game against Petaluma National, Dylan Dossola smashes his first homer to center field.

In the Semifinal against Maidu, Nolan pitched 3 innings with 5Ks and 0 runs. Charles was down to his last strike in the top of the 6th, down 1 with the bases loaded. He connected for an infield single to tie the game. In the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs and a runner on third, Coach Dave chose to walk Maidu's two best hitters to load the bases, trusting Patrick not to walk in the winning run. Patrick induces a pop out to send the game into extra innings. In the top of the 7th, we started with an automatic runner on second and they walked two more to load the bases. Garrett comes through with an infield contact hit for the go ahead run. In the bottom of the 7th they sacrifice a runner to third with 1 out, Patrick iced the game with back to back K’s to win it.

In the final against Maidu: Nolan nearly went the distance, throwing 5.2 innings with 12Ks. Max Turner added another strikeout to collect the final out. Some big hits in the game: Garrett's early single for an RBI and Derek was 2 for 3 with 3 hard hit balls. Simeon patience at the plate paid off with a critical walk to load the bases and set the stage for Teddy to battle for a HUGE 8-pitch walk with bases loaded to drive in the game winning run in the 5th. Charles and Max had huge back to back tough walks in the sixth to drive in a run, Derek tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single and we all held our breath as Max caught a pop fly in left field for the final out.

Alpine Little League All-Stars keep rolling in Nor Cal opener
"Alpine opened the tourney at Petaluma’s Lucchesi Park with a three-run first, and added two big innings in the regulation six-inning victory. Their bullpen did the rest, as relievers Patrick Breslin, Derek Armstrong and Charles Saste combined to set down the last 10 batters of the day."

Alpine one win from West Region
"The kid they call “G,” Garrett Weiss, produced the game-winning swing of the bat as Alpine rallied for a 4-3, extra-inning win over Maidu-Granite Bay in the Northern California Little League All-Stars 12s semifinals Tuesday night at Lucchesi Park. With the win, Alpine advances to the championship round Thursday to play for a ticket to the West Region tournament in San Bernardino."

Nor Cal champs!
"Through 11 games this summer, Alpine Little League All-Stars star Nolan Levinson has started eight of them on the mound. The big right-hander’s dogged tenacity Thursday in the Northern California 12s championship game is, thus far, his crowning achievement."

Highlights from Coach Dave

In the semi-final vs Bollinger Canyon, Max hit a huge 2-run homer in the top of the 6th and threw 60 pitches over 4 innings and only gave up 1 run. When Max ran into a bit of trouble, Coach Dave asked the kids what they wanted to do during a mound visit…they made it clear they wanted to keep Max because he was locked in. And who could forget Jack "Jackie Doubles" Chambers gutsy swing on a 3-0 count to crack a base hit to left.

In the finals vs Bollinger Canyon, Nolan made a statement with a lead-off, 270-foot homer in the bottom of the first. That same inning, Charles followed up with a 3-run blast. In the next inning, Kogan followed up with a huge GRAND SLAM. All 9 Alpine runs were scored with home runs in the first 2 innings.

Turner shines as Alpine advances to Section 3 Little League All-Stars 12s title round
"The Alpine All-Stars faced their toughest test to date in the Section 3 Little League 12s semifinals. With ace right-hander Nolan Levinson starting for the second straight day, and right-hander Max Turner bringing it home with four innings of relief to close it out, Alpine passed the test with flying colors"

Alpine power show: For first time since 2001, Alpine wins District 52 12s title
"It had been nearly a quarter of a century since Alpine won its last District 52 Little League All-Stars 12s championship banner. Twenty-four years, to be exact. As it turns out, all they needed was a murderers’ row of left-handed hitters to end the drought."

The Road to the Little League World Series

Getting to the Little League World Series involves a set of tournaments with teams progressing from their local leagues through District, Sectionals, State, and Regional tournaments, with the regional winners advancing to the World Series. The World Series features 16 teams: 8 from the United States and 8 international teams. (This applies mostly to the 12u teams. 11/10u also compete in the post-season, but the road ends with Sectionals––there is no World Series at the younger levels.)

Here's a more specific breakdown as it applies to Alpine:

Alpine Little League
The journey begins with our local league play, where teams are formed and compete in the Spring season.

    D52 Tournament
After the regular season, each league forms "All-Star" teams that compete with other Leagues in our district.

    Section 3 Tournament
The winner of the D52 Tournament advances to the Section 3 tournament to play the winners of the other district tournaments in our Section.

    NorCal State Tournament
The winner of the Section 3 Tournament moves on to compete in the NorCal State tournament. (California has two state tournaments for Northern and Southern California.)

    Western Regional Tournament
State champions then compete in regional tournaments, with each region sending one representative. Alpine is in the Western Region along with Southern California, Hawaii and Arizona.

    Little League World Series
Each regional tournament winner earns a spot in the Little League World Series. Little League World Series:The World Series features 16 teams: 8 from the United States and 8 international teams, competing in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The tournament format is a double-elimination bracket, meaning a team can lose twice before being eliminated. The World Series culminates in a final game to determine the champion.

Tournament Team Selection Process

District All Star teams and Super Bowl teams are a fun, competitive and memorable end to the Spring Season. Tournament team selection, however, can seem mysterious.  We don't want it to be that way!  We have prepared a detailed description of the different tournament teams, the time commitment and how manager and player selection works.  Please read about our All Star & Super Bowl Selection Process.
