2023 Spring Softball Program

Welcome to Spring Softball!

We are excited to bring our programs to our community this Spring. For softball we offer Majors, Minors and Coach Pitch. As you go through this registration process you will find descriptions of these two divisions, including recommended age ranges. The age ranges described are "League Ages" so we advise using this Little League Age Chart to help. Please register your child where you think they fit best and we will work with you from there to get him/her placed on a team in the appropriate division.

The appropriate level of play for a child is not entirely based on the player's age. In the descriptions we provide guidelines for the skill levels and ages of children who may play at each of the levels. All of Alpine Little League's age guidelines are consistent with those suggested by Little League International.

Coach Pitch
Softball Coach Pitch is for beginning players who are new to the game, or have potentially played tee ball or coach pitch in previous seasons. The coach pitches to the players. Generally players are Little League ages 6 - 8. Teams will bat through the line up each inning. More advanced rules and curriculum will be built into the structure of the season so that players are able to advance as players and students of the game. Softball Coach Pitch teams are formed based on friend requests and schools (when possible) by the Alpine Little League Softball Coach Pitch Commissioner.

Minors
Minors Softball is generally for players who played Coach Pitch in the prior Spring season, or are age appropriate for this division (Little League ages 8 - 10). Older players who are just trying softball are welcome to play in the Minors division. A pitching machine is used instead of players pitching. More advanced rules and curriculum will be built into the structure of the season so that players are able to advance as players and students of the game. Players will be placed on teams based on a pre-season evaluation with the goal being to create as balanced teams as possible.

Majors
Majors Softball is generally for players who have had experience playing softball in the past, and are comfortable with player pitching.Spring season. Generally players are aged 11 - 12, but players with prior experience are welcome to play in the Majors division. Players will be placed on teams/divisions based on a pre-season evaluation and draft where the team managers consider League Age, feedback from prior year coaches and their own experience coaching/observing the player. The goal being to create as balanced teams as possible.

Umpire Registration

Alpine Little League has the largest youth umpire program in District 52 and we want you to be a part of it.  Being an umpire is a great way to expand a player's knowledge of the game, build confidence, provide leadership opportunities and earn some money!  We pay competitive rates and provide all the training.  We view our Umpiring Program as another Division of our league and have high expectations for everyone in our community to treat our umpires with respect and encouragement just as they would a young athlete learning how to play the game.

Check out our Umpire Resources page for more information about the program.  Umpires must be 11 years old by January 1, 2023 to register.

To sign up, please complete this Umpire Sign-up Form and our Umpire Coordinators will be in touch.
