ELIGIBILITY & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS (SOFTBALL)

Player Age Requirements

Players of the appropriate ages are eligible to participate in Alpine Little League Softball. A player's Little League age can be determined using this tool: Little League softball age tool

Player Residency Requirements

The national Little League organization requires players to meet certain residence conditions to be eligible for a particular Little League program. The Menlo Park-Atherton area has three active Little League programs (Alpine Little League, M-A Little League, and Ravenswood Little League).  For softball ONLY we have been granted permission by Little League to combine the boundaries of Alpine LL and M-A LL.

There are two main ways to establish residency - by resident address or school attendance.

Resident Address:

Please follow the link below to see if you reside within the boundary area for Alpine Little League Softball. Little League Finder tool.  Please note the boundaries for baseball and softball are different so sure you make the right selections in the tool.

A player will be deemed to reside within the league boundaries if:

A. His/her parents are living within the league boundaries.

B. Either of the player’s parents (or his/her court-appointed legal guardian) resides within such boundaries.

"Residence", "reside” and “residing” refers to a place of bona fide continuous habitation. A place of residence once established shall not be considered changed unless the parents, parent or guardian makes a bona fide change of residence

Residence shall be established and supported by providing a copy of ONE of the following to determine residency of such parent(s) or guardian:

Utility Bill (Water, Electric, Gas, Phone)

Cable Bill

Cell Phone Bill

Driver’s License or State ID

School Attendance:

If your player attends a school that is inside the boundary, you are eligible to play for Alpine Little League.  During the registration process you will be prompted to upload a school verification form.

For Softball eligible schools are: Corte Madera, Hillview, La Entrada, Oak Knoll, Ormandale, Phillips Brooks, St. Raymond’s, Woodland, Woodside, Woodside Priory, Encinal School; Alto School; Las Lomitas; Laurel Schools; Menlo-Atherton High School; Menlo School; Nativity; Peninsula School; Sacred Heart; and Willow Oaks School.

Waiver Process:

If you reside outside the boundary and do not attend one of the schools listed above, your player may be eligible for a waiver to play in Alpine Little League.

1. Change of residence - If your player has played in the Alpine Little League previously, but you have recently moved outside the boundary, please email the registrar who will assist you with registration. [email protected]

2. Older siblings - If your player has older siblings that have played in Alpine Little League, please email the registrar who will assist you with registration. [email protected]

Divisions of Play and Exceptions

Division placement is based on age and ability level. The general age guidance is as follows and more guidance is found on the Division description page. The following are league ages.

Coach Pitch - 6-8 year olds

Minors (Player Pitch) - 9 - 12 year olds

If you seek an exception to these limits, register your player in the age-appropriate division and send an email to Cal Thomas the Softball Commissioner, at [email protected] , requesting the exception.

Refunds

Registration fees can be refunded prior to the team formation. Team formation dates by division are published on our website calendar. Once teams are formed and announced, no refunds will be processed. Please contact the registrar at [email protected] to coordinate a refund prior to the team formation dates.

Friend and Team Requests

For Softball Coach Pitch ONLY we will accept friend requests through the registration process until February 5th. Registration will remain open until February 25th but we cannot honor friend requests beyond February 5th.

Softball Minors teams are created by draft.  This allows for the creation of equitable teams, therefore Alpine Little League cannot accept requests for specific coaches or players to be on a team together.
